In 2019, we organized a Kyrgyzstan Heritage Weekend over the weekend of June 15-16, in the Washington, DC, area. Families with children from Kyrgyzstan came to celebrate with volunteers from Kyrgyzstan. There were cultural activities, including Kyrgyz games, dance, music, crafts, language, and delicious Kyrgyz food. More importantly, the kids met others like themselves, saw role models in the volunteers, and gained a sense of pride in their heritage.
On Saturday, there were indoor cultural activities, and Sunday was an outdoor picnic with games.
