Meeting President Otunbaeva

Representatives from Kyrgyz Children’s Future had the honor of meeting President Roza Otunbaeva during a reception at the Kyrgyz Embassy in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, March 8, 2011. President Otunbaeva was very approachable, and sincerely interested in hearing the adoption stories from Americans who have brought children home from Kyrgyzstan as well as from those still waiting. She expressed her support for adoption several times and hopes that Parliament will end the moratorium, and she was excited to hear about the upcoming Kyrgyzstan Heritage Weekend! It was a wonderful evening, and an experience we will never forget.

February 18th Fundraiser

Kyrgyz Children’s Future was honored, along with another charity working in Kyrgyzstan, at a fundraising evening at the home of Ms. Pamela Allen in Virginia on February 18, hosted by Ms. Allen and Ms. Ann Bates. It was a very pleasant, gracious opportunity to talk about the needs of orphans in Kyrgyzstan and to respond to questions. The evening included a “silent auction” of felt handicrafts made by the children of Ak-Beshim orphanage, which they had given to Kyrgyz Children’s Future to help raise funds. In addition to the sales, KCF received several hundred dollars worth of donations, which will be used for upcoming projects at orphanages in the Kyrgyz Republic.
